This island home is located
on Little Gasparilla Island, a bridgeless barrier island
situated between the intracoastal waterway and the Gulf of
Mexico, just off the Cape Haze peninsula
in Charlotte County, Florida. Travel to the island is
only by private boat or water taxi. While the dirt and
shell roads on the island are wide enough for the occasional
maintenance truck, residents usually travel around the
island either on foot or by golf cart.
The locals consider
Little Gasparilla an island paradise, but living in paradise
does require a little effort! There are no stores or
restaurants on the island, so food and supplies must be
purchased on the mainland and transported to the island by
boat.
Many island residents
store their boats at Gasparilla Marina in Placida when they
are away from the island. The marina also serves
as a place to leave their cars on the mainland and board
their boats for travel to Little Gasparilla Island.
From the marina, you travel out to the intracoastal waterway
and head north under the Boca Grande Causeway bridge until
you reach the marked channel leading you across Lemon Bay to
the island. On the bay side of the
island, you can dock your boat at the Gaspar's Hideaway
community docks. Adjacent to the docks is a parking
area for golf carts. Transfer your supplies to your golf
cart and you are ready for the short drive to Jolly Roger
Trail!
In this

the the location of the property along with a portion
of the island and the surrounding waters. The red
arrow points to 9532 Jolly Roger Trail. Gasparilla
Marina is in the upper right corner of the picture.
The Gulf of Mexico is in the lower left hand corner.
