Buildings feature fountains, columns, wrought iron railings, and hand-painted tiles.  Enormous imported earthenware containers, known as tinaja and traditionally used to transport wine and olive oil, grace the grounds.

The community offers extensive open areas that include both landscaped promenades and environmental preserves.  As you enter the grounds from Placida Road, your view opens to a wide palm-lined courtyard that stretches from the golf practice area on the left to the professional-quality clay tennis courts on the right.

About the Hacienda del Mar Location:


In this aerial view from the Charlotte County GIS website, you can see the location of The Hacienda del Mar and the surrounding area.  To the west of the Hacienda del Mar, lie the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), the barrier islands, and the Gulf of Mexico.   Boaters have ready access to the Gulf by heading a few miles north to Stump Pass.

Palm Island Marina is located on the Intracoastal Waterway just north of Hacienda del Mar and there are additional marinas nearby along Placida Road.  Marina facilities include dockage, boat storage, boat rentals, boat repairs and boat tours.  If you bring your boat by trailer, public boat ramps are within a few miles.

Nearby Gulf of Mexico beaches can be reached by car or by boat.  There are several public beach parks on Manasota Key, about a fifteen minute drive north and miles of public beach on Gasparilla Island, a short drive to the south.  Don Pedro Island State Park is nearby, accessible only by private boat or by a shuttle boat from Placida.  Beach areas on Palm Island and Little Gasparilla Island can also be accessed by boat. 

Golfers will find eight local courses within a fifteen minute drive of Hacienda del Mar.
