Average Temperatures by Month
Our area enjoys a wonderful climate that keeps us warm through the winter months.
As you look at the data below, you may be surprised to note
that through the summer our monthly highs are lower than
those in some other parts of the country.
Based on data from the Southeast Regional Climate Center
reporting location in Punta Gorda, our area has an average
annual temperature of 74 degrees (Fahrenheit). The
chart below will show you our monthly high, low and average
temperatures.

Current and Forecast Weather Conditions
The links below will show you our current weather
conditions.
Tides
The tides in our area are somewhat different than those
in many parts of the country. One way they differ is
that the delta between the high and low tide is often only a
couple of feet, rather than the eight feet or more some
areas experience.
A second way our tides differ, a phenomenon along the
Gulf Coast, is that they are not as "regular" as the two
daily tides in other areas. - Take a look at the tide charts
on the website link below and you'll see the wide variation
in high/low tide cycles over time.
Hurricane Planning
While our area has less probability of a hurricane strike than
some other parts of Florida, Hurricane Charley showed us
that hurricanes do hit our area and we must anticipate that they
will do so in the future. There are many steps that
you can take to prepare your home for a hurricane.
In addition to the links provided on the Hurricane Home
Preparation page above, the
site below provides other useful information on preparing
for hurricanes and other weather hazards.
