Charlotte Harbor

Charlotte Harbor is a wonderful centerpiece to our area and a key reason that many people choose to live here. The Harbor is the second largest estuary in Florida with a surface area of over 270 square miles. It provides endless opportunities for sailing, fishing, boating, birding, kayaking, and nature study.

The Harbor and its surrounding land areas are home to over 300 bird, 250 fish and 40 mammal species. While many of us enjoy the diverse recreational opportunities the Harbor and its animal inhabitants provide for us, as our human population grows the health of the estuary is at risk.

Significant government and community efforts are underway to protect Charlotte Harbor and to educate all of us on the wonderful environment the Harbor provides. For more information, click on the links below.
